F.A.Q.s
===============================================================
Assalamu Alaikum,
Thank you all for your questions. I will try to answer all of them Insha Allah.
1) Who are we ?
A) We are just a group of individuals trying to create a drive/campaign to motivate people to make donations to the starving Muslims of Somalia.
2) If we are just individuals, how do we plan to transfer this money to the drought stricken area and ensure that it reaches them?
A) So far only one muslim organization has been able to reach out to that place, The Ummah Welfare Trust (http://www.uwt.org/site/default.asp). So we plan to transfer the money to them. They have a online donation system, where anyone with an international bank card can donate. Anyone who can not donate online, we can collect the money from them and make a donation online ourselves. And we have also established contact with the organization from where we have been directed towards a partner organization here in Bangladesh. If we can collect large sum of money, we we contact this organization and send the money via them. (Contact details for this organization will be provided below, if anyone is willing to contact them personally.)
3)If we are not related to the organization, what is the security of your money being transfered to the organization ?
A) You really do not need to give the money to us. If you can make the donation online or through any other way you know, then Alhamduli Allah. The sole purpose of this is to push those who are grieved by the events but lack enough motivation to make a donation. And also for those who do not have access to online banking, but want to make a donation.
EDIT: To verify the legitimacy of our connection you can mail Mr. Masud Siddique at m.siddique@uwt.org of Ummah Welfare Trust and ask about giving the money to us. We will be handing the money over to Center for Rights and Development - CRD, 20/7 Pallabi, Dhaka-1216. CRD is a partner organization of Ummah Welfare Trust. CRD has also worked with other numerous charity organizations and NGOs like Muslim Aid. After handing over the money, I will confirm the donation directly from Mr.Masud Siddique. Anyone interested in verifying personally can also do so.
Legal status of CRD:
CRD is registered with the Dept. of Social Services vide registration no. DINAJ-1138/97 dated 27-2-97 and under Foreign Donation Regulation Ordinance and Rules of 1978, vide registration no. 1320/98 dated 14-12-98.
4) Will we provide a receipt for the donations?
A) After the collection, if we make the donation online we will be able to produce a collective receipt of the total collection paid online. But if the donation is made through the partner organization then, we will try to manage one from them. Below is the copy of the e-mail I received from the Project Manager at Ummah Welfare Trust:

|Horn of Africa Drought appeal: http://www.uwt.org/site/appeal.asp?id=617|
10 million Muslims are suffering in the Horn of Africa amidst the worst drought seen in 60 years. Poverty has become extreme: children are dying of starvation, pregnancies are resulting in miscarriages and farmers’ livelihoods are being destroyed.
Many mothers along with their children say they have walked for a month on bare and bloodied feet to refugee camps in Kenya. Journeys of more than 300 miles are common. In their search for food and water, they have slept for weeks on burning sand under open skies.
Water is now so scarce that the governor of the Middle Shabelle region, Abdullahi Moalim Hussain, recently said: ‘Water is so expensive in the area that people are being buried without being washed, which is compulsory in Islam.’
Ummah Welfare Trust is appealing for funds to help feed starving refugees in Dadaab, Northern Kenya.
Rasulallah Salallahu 'alaihi wasallam said: 'Whoever gives charity equal to a date from good earnings – for Allah does not accept anything but that which is good – Allah will take it in His right hand and tend it for the one who gave it as any one of you tends his foal, until it becomes like a mountain.' (Bukhari and Muslim)
Following assessments on the ground, your donations will make the following difference:
£10,000 will feed 1000 families for 10 days.
£30 will feed 1 family for 1 month.
£10 to feed 1 family for 10 days
£1 to feed 1 family for 1 day
The reality is that the people suffering today are being tested by Allah with hunger and thirst; and their ranks will surely increase because of this:
Shaykh Yasin (UWT Head of Operations in Somalia) says, ’They have lost everything, except the deen of Allah which is still strong, walhamdulillah!’
But we are also being tested; and Allah in His infinite Mercy is also giving us an opportunity to increase our ranks. But as members of the Ummah of Muhammad Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa sallam, we have to take a step forward.

This is your chance to help those in need and get your share of rewards from Allah; be generous this month my dear brothers and sisters! We, here in Dhaka, aim to raise atleast BDT 100,000 in sha' Allah. We need your help to stand beside Somalia.
Please spread the news and let everyone know.

WHY ARE WE COLLECTING MONEY FOR SOMALIA , WHEN THERE ARE ENOUGH POOR PEOPLE IN BANGLADESH?
Answer)
We are aware that the situation in Bangladesh also needs concern and attention. But at this moment the situation in Somalia is terrible (please check the videos posted). It is a record high drought in 60 years. People are dying starving for food and fresh water. They have nothing, they can not grow crops. Their animals are dying as well. The situation is too severe.
And we are not calling for all the money (zakaat or any other charity) to be sent there. Many of us or our parents have zakaat to give, so only if we could spare one-tenth for the brothers and sisters there in the Horn of Africa would not affect the people in Bangladesh. And also, if we could even spare a few thousand taka from our eid shopping it would not hurt us much.
And Allaah knows best.
